Remember the little cherub with the broken wing ~ in which I planted impatiens?

He is doing well on our back deck, off our bedroom.
Some things make me feel more peaceful, just by looking at them. He is one of them.
Thank you for your kind comments on our living room (previous post). I always so enjoy your visits to our cottage!
Have a lovely week!! :)

Fading flowers, rust and lace....
Peonies and hydrangeas drying in an old metal dustpan.....

P.S. Yes, I really dreamt the time travel dream from the previous post. I am one of those people who dreams quite vividly, in much detail, every night! Quite entertaining!! :)

A Decorating DreamDo you dream about decorating while you sleep? I often do.
Last night's dream was especially memorable. I had travelled back in time, I'm guessing it was the Victorian era. I was transported into someone's home as a guest. We were going to be sharing a meal together, and the lady of the house was showing me the area where I might wash up... This area was actually open to the rest of the house, so she had creatively placed lace pieces and panels to "wall it off" for privacy's sake. Knowing that, for her, this lovely idea was borne of necessity, made it especially charming.
Later during my visit, somehow a cabinet, next to which I was sitting, toppled over and chipped. It was, of course, a wooden cabinet in pristine condition. The homeowner was quite distraught......

There was a man present who specialized in furnishings and decor, and when I explained my theory that chipped/distressed pieces could also be beautiful, he looked at me in disbelief. I went on to explain that those chips might represent memories.... perhaps the time where "father" had nicked the wood with his work boot.... or "junior" scuffed it, happily playing with his toy..... and how those "flaws" were really precious reminders of life itself. He had a look of awe on his face, as if I had made some huge revelation! LOL!

How could he possibly have known that Vintage Cottage Chic would be a decorating style? Which I happen to adore??!!

Happy Decorating Dreams to You!!

When I was doing my usual blog-hopping, I visited Rachel, who had posted the cutest vintage bluebird hanger!! I commented to her how adorable it was, as I often admire the finds of my sweet bloggy friends.... To my surprise, she wrote to me and said she had another just like it and would like to send it to me! Can you believe it?
I mean, how cute is that??! And that's not all..... when it arrived, she had filled the package with other sweetness...... just looky looky!
A journal she had covered in chenille and cottage-y-flowers, yummy material with little bluebirds on it!.....

.... and these ever-so-sweet little bluebird couples...... Awwwwww!!!!!
Thank you so very much, Rachel!! Loooooooove love LOVE it!

This is my "new" vintage saying cup I found at my fave antique shoppe recently. I thought this post was a perfect time to debut it.

Hope your weekend is wonderful, and that you have a beautiful week too! :)

Vintage Lamp Love

I saw this sweet little lamp at my favorite shabby shoppe, and.... you know the drill..... I "had to" have it!

Did I need another lamp? No. But I mean, just look at it!!

It looks like it was made for my little chippy desk..... a match made in heaven! :)
Hope you are having a happy week!

Hello, friends! I tried out the lacy thing on a birdcage, which was one of the ideas offered. Not quite long enough to tell the birdie it's bedtime, but I thought it looked pretty anyway!! I think I'll keep it there for awhile. Nighty-nite, lil birdie! Sweet Dreams!! :)

Floral Treasures!More pretties I have not shared with you yet.... such as this vintage waste basket, which I'm using as an umbrella stand by the front door.....I have a thing for "single" S&P's, especially ones as pretty as these.....

.... and yes, more vintage sewing baskets. These had some old spools of thread still within.

Thanks again for the lovely birthday wishes and the ever-so-sweet compliments. Hope you have a fabulous weekend!! :)
