About the crabapple trees. They were really beautiful in spring (for about two weeks) but the mess they created with all those apples dropping just didn't make it worth having them. But I think it depends on the type of tree it is. There are several varieties of crabapple. We just happen to have the little hard green apple kind that didn't decompose. My neighbors have one with little red apples and they don't have a problem with it.
