300th Post Celebration!!

I can hardly believe I've posted here 300 times now! I began this blog as a way to share my love of decorating, and I have met so many kindred spirits who enjoy the same things I do. What a fun journey this has been.

I am having a giveaway to celebrate!! Since it is Christmas, I am giving away this chocolate&pink paper Christmas cone that I made......To enter, simply leave a comment on this post!! I will draw a name on Wednesday, Dec. 5th!

I hope to share Christmas-y things (decor!) with you every day from now until Christmas. I'm a tad bit behind on my decorating, due to being ill this past week-and-a-half, so here is a picture of our bedroom as it was decorated our first year in our new home, 2003.

Hopefully, I'll be back to decorating and sharing new pics very soon!
Be sure to leave a comment for a chance to win the giveaway!

Becca, age 17

Welcome to Natasha's virtual vintage prom!! Some participants are showing pictures of their dream dress/accessories, some are actually modeling their attire (beautiful!), but I thought I'd share pics from my actual prom, circa 1978! Here I am, I was a senior in high school, 17 years old. My dress was pale blue and pink (imagine! :) with lace trim. Check out my purple bedroom, complete with canopy bed and french provincial furniture. My walls were deep purple, and the bedding and curtains were tiered in three shades of purple fabric (can you guess what my fave color was back then?)Here is my date; isn't he dreamy? We were "going steady" as we called it 'back then'. He had dark curly hair and beautiful blue eyes -- tall dark and handsome. Can you believe I made him wear this powder blue tux to coordinate with my dress?

Here is a picture of us together. It's so funny, I can tell which photos were taken by my dad, because my boyfriend was scared of my dad, and wouldn't put his arm around me in front of him!! Poor fella looks so nervous!!He was a lot more relaxed around my mom, as she took this photo at my graduation party just weeks later! Look at those gold walls and that velvet rust chair!! 70's decor!!

Thanks for hosting this, Natasha, what fun!!

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas.......
These decorations, below, are unpacked but haven't been put in place. I think they look kind of pretty just like this......Especially since I was gone all day, shopping with my mom at our town's Christmas Open House, and look what I found, below......

A framed print of a little girl with a dolly in front of the Christmas tree. The caption reads "Did Santa bring you?" It reminds me of myself as a little girl, I was blessed to get a new dolly every year for Christmas!
I also found this glittery "easel card" angel ~~ will be pretty standing up among a display somewhere......

We do have our 9 ft tree standing and with lights, in the living room, and I have begun decorating it ~ still a long ways to go though!!
Happy Decorating to You!!

I'm Dreaming of a Vintage Christmas...............

Just like the ones I used to know.....

Ah, look at this angel I bought Friday. She was in a local "junk" shoppe. I have looked at her every time I've been in that store for months. Friday, I decided to buy her, and what a nice surprise when the gentleman at the counter said "she's half-off today."
I also couldn't resist these old white reindeer -- so shabby sweet! And the vintage silver tinsel! You can also see the little elves on the left, and legs to a Santa "pick" I bought too! These lights aren't exactly intact on the inside, but I loved the faded image on the front of the box! These old mica houses are so charming, especially the ones in pink!

And a pink bottle brush tree to go with it.....One can never have too many shabby ornaments, can they?
Some blue Christmas picks, and this sweet little angel bell -- on the back it says "In Swedish We Say Merry Christmas." So I assume the words on front mean Merry Christmas!! Too cute!!

Are you having a nice weekend? I AM!! :)

ROCKIN' CHRISTMAS!
Brad and his band performed last night at an old theatre that is going to be restored. It is nearly 100 years old. What a neat setting!
The guys have a new show for Christmas, called "Blues Christmas", and they treated us to a few of their Christmas numbers.

The theatre currently doesn't have heat, so we all bundled up ~ hot chocolate, coffee and cookies were served. The town was having its Candlelight Christmas, so the streets were filled with shoppers and carolers too!! A fun night!

Let's Talk Turkey!!
Here a few of my Thanksgiving decorations....... these turkey salt and peppers are new this year. I found them at Cracker Barrel and love their golden hues!
I don't remember where I bought this tin basket, but it's a favorite! I've had these pilgrims for awhile as well...... And this wooden turkey!
I made some Thanksgiving tags for my etsy shoppe......

And these Thanksgiving placecards too..... I made a set for our own family, including this one for my mom. She is hosting Thanksgiving dinner at her lovely home.

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, probably second only to Christmas. I love how it's a day set aside to concentrate on our blessings, to gather with family and just enjoy being together.

Hi! I haven't posted since Wednesday!! This week flew by!

Thank you for all the comments on the kitties; Bowser, Isabella Grace and Peyton thank you too! They loved showing off their cuteness for you.

I've been busy crafting........ this little pink rose cottage is what I made today. I painted pink roses and holly leaves on it, added some glitter for *snow*....... oh yes, the doorknob is a pink rhinestone!

I've also been making more tussie mussies....... this one's made with some pretty rose fabric on a blue background..... the blue bow is vintage satin blanket binding, and the little blue ornament is vintage too.
This one's in my latest favorite color combo of pink and chocolate:

Some of you have asked if I decorate for Thanksgiving. Yes, I do a little. Mostly in our family room. Because I decorate every room for Christmas, I have to start right after Halloween on that...... but I do have a few Thanksgiving things up in the family room that will stay up for awhile while I concentrate on other rooms. I will take a few pictures and share with you soon! I do love Thanksgiving too!!

I hope you all are enjoying the weekend!! :)
