Scenes from a China Cabinet......

I used the old lace I found at the liquidation store as an edging in my china cabinet. I decided to show you a picture of it, and got carried away taking pictures of my pretty pink rose dishes and treasures within! I hope you enjoy seeing them!

My pink dream house in miniature .....

This last photo is of the top of the cabinet......... It makes me think of spring, so it's a good time to remind you about tomorrow's post. It will be a spring giveaway, so be sure to check back tomorrow and sign up to win the prize I'll be giving away!!

These are the *new* goodies I found at the liquidation store...... padded hangers ~~ the pink & white striped ones are lingerie hangers, and I think they might be from Victoria's Secret, as that is where the pink & white striped shopping bags are from (which I picked up to organize things in my closet ~ hmmm, do you notice a pink & white theme here? :)
The q-tips are pink too; they will be used for crafting ~~ I thought they might as well be as pretty as practical!

Some of you weren't able to see all of the pictures, so I've posted them each separately here; hope you can enjoy them now too! :)

A trip yesterday to a favorite liquidation outlet center reaped many treasures ~~ they apparently bought out some antique store leftovers, much to my delight ~~ in addition to some "new" things, which I'll share later, I found these pretties (pictured as a group below, and also separately in posts above this, as some were having trouble viewing them within this post)

Hatpin holder, bluebird cake decoration,
..... several bunches of millinery flowers.......
Vintage jar of "beauty creme"; I love the soft colors..... someone has written, in pencil, "Mother".....old pink whistle
vintage Easter postcard, some "aged" flowerpots" and roses.......
And now I must go find places in my home for all my lovely treasures (exaggerated sigh)......

~Some Photos of My Cottage Kitchen~

Thursday, February 22, 2007

These vintage images are from a Little Golden Book I found at Goodwill. The book is reproduction, but I loved the color of these and thought they would work well in various projects....
I also found a vintage rose bowl & pitcher, and this little covered trinket box with roses on top, with little birds lined up around the sides.
Oh, and the tiara! With pink frou-frou trim; it will go in my "studio" area for inspiration! I've always wanted a tiara! :)

These are painted slates that will hang in the family room -- they are the four seasons, and their style be a good fit in there.

Introducing.....

Miss Isabella Grace

Take a look at my latest treasure! We found her in our woods a week ago. We heard a faint little "mew" beneath our woodpile. This poor little sweetie was in the snow, cold and hungry. It took a little convincing my dear husband that we should add her to the family. (She actually persuaded him more than I did, as she found her way into his heart, though he'd never admit it! ;)
At just 4-1/2 lbs., she is so small that we thought she might still be a kitten, but at her first checkup today, we were told she is about 1-1/2 years old, and is just going to be a tiny thing.
We love her already!

Thrifting Treasures

A good thrifting day..... I hadn't been in awhile, due to the snow. I found these two pedestals, HL pitcher, small white floral decor, and this pretty little frame, which I first intended to paint, but might leave as is and use it in the family room.....

Pictured below -- a little wire basket that will be perfect for holding my paints at the craft area I'm presently working on -- the twig basket will be used for a craft project, possibly for a friend's upcoming birthday, and the little round piece in front is one of those candle warmers with a garden theme.

Here are my *shabby* pink rose finds...... there were four of the vintage dinner plates (ninety-nine cents each)... the cup featured in the closeup was only forty-nine cents.

A good thrifting day indeed!

Today, I received these wonderful chocolates (from Brussels!) that I had won from Rosemary at http://cozyrosy.blogspot.com/
How appropriate that they arrived on Valentine's Day!

They were presented so beautifully, tied with a ribbon.......... And trust me, they are as DELICIOUS as you might imagine them to be. I wish I could share them with you all!

Rosemary also included an adorable Valentine card that you can see in the photo above.

I want to thank her so much for this sweet prize! :)

Some fabric hearts I made.

A Special Memory
& A Different Kind of Post

This is the photo from which my current blogger profile pic is taken. The smiling boy is my older brother Mark, on the occasion of his kindergarten graduation.
I had just turned four years old and told my mom that I wanted a graduation robe too. Being the wise and patient mother that she was, she told me to don my quilted robe and that could be my gown. I'm not positive, but I think that's a rabbit's foot in my hand, serving as my "tassel".
I love this picture and the many things it represents to me...... the love & pride I have for my brother (my only sibling), the wisdom and kindness of my mother...... and my ability of being so easy to please (or easily fooled?!) which I still am! :)
(And no, I didn't wear the robe to the ceremony, it was for the photo op only! ;)

A favorite spot in the living room......... I just added this slipcover to this overstuffed chair today (a Goodwill find that I'd been using in the bedroom)..... I like the shabby softness it brings to the room.....

The album above was a yard sale find, as was the floral plate to the right. I love the cutwork on this plate.

One might think I like roses in our home!

Monday, February 05, 2007

I found this sweet little mannequin at an after-Christmas sale. The dress is ivory, and I certainly didn't think it looked "Christmas-Only". I thought it might look nice in the living room; which is where I placed it today. It is about the size of a Barbie doll. I think it's rather dreamy and sweet.

More Thrift Store Finds! I thought the clear heart box would look pretty with some of those little candy hearts in it (I'll have to remember to pick some of those up for it and then remember to not eat them all! ;)

The frames will either get replaced or painted white, but I couldn't resist those botanical rose prints.

Vintage Valentines

I copied old Valentines, embellished them with glitter, and then tucked them into little vignettes & displays around the house, such as the bathroom (above) and living room.

In a vintage purse among roses & pearls....

Tucked into a little basket of ivy, with
roses & ribbon.

More Vintage Valentine Decor.......

Tucked into vignettes in the cottage kitchen.
