I decided to create a mantel of the month, using our bedroom mantel...... this is my first one; I'll be creating one for May very soon. This one is pink and white, roses and lace.....
A closeup of our bedroom mantel....... two "empty" picture frames..... I hung a pink teacup from a sheer pink ribbon in the small frame...... lots of pink roses, lace and pearls......

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOM! Today is my mother's birthday. When I was looking for a picture for this post in her honor, I first hoped to find some yellow roses -- her favorite flower. Since I'm a pink rose lady myself, I didn't seem to have any, but this picture of garden tools seems to suit her. Firstly, she is a hard worker ~~Hands to Work~Hearts to God~~ and she also loves pretty things. Her flowers are always well-cared for and lovely, like herself. I wish her a beautiful birthday. I love you, Mom!!

Lilacs
We are blessed with two glorious lilac bushes which were already on the land when we built our home...... I estimate them to be at least nine or ten feet tall. They are on the side yard, and we can smell the wonderful scent of them all around the house.....
I took this photo of them today, as they are now showing their wondrous beauty in the fullest.....

Well, they aren't bluebirds, and there are no roses in this picture, but aren't they beautiful? These are golden finches that come to visit our feeder. We can see them feasting from our kitchen window! When I took this photo, there was quite a flurry of activity; there were several waiting in the bushes to trade places with these fellows!

~~A Wagon of Happiness~~
I found this little wagon at the thrift store for a dollar. It was purple, and I repainted it a soft baby blue, added a decal of roses & ribbons, then filled it with some of my favorite things -- vintage linens -- and bluebirds and roses, naturally!

I received this beautiful Easter egg as a surprise from a dear friend yesterday. It was made by her mother. The intricate detail is amazing! Look inside to see a smiling bunny, two Easter chicks, flowers, and (my favorite) a birdbath with abluebird! I love it!

Certainly not your typical decoration for this time of year, but I couldn't resist the soft pastel colors of these vintage ornaments. Displayed in an old iron piece that I painted white, I added a sheer pink ribbon threaded through the scrolled wire, then tied a bow at the front for a sweet springtime statement!

I stepped out onto our bedroom deck when taking some photos of my pretties in the natural light. I love being out there.......... It's like our own little private retreat. It's on the top level of our home, overlooking the woods and the bird-watching area. The only way one can get to this deck is from our bedroom door. It's unbelievably peaceful, and ~one of the best parts~ no shoes required!

Welcome to *Of Bluebirds and Roses*! My hope is to share lovely thoughts and things with you......... Two of my favorite things are bluebirds and pink roses, of course! This picture is a copy of one of my favorite vintage postcards from my collection. I framed it in this formerly-gold frame that I painted white just today. In the bottom left corner of the postcard is written: "The Lord is risen indeed. Alleluia." ~Bluebird Rose~
