Have a Heart!

My latest collection -- vintage heart pin cushions. I found the first one at my favorite antique shoppe, then picked up two more on our recent trip to Indiana.

I also found this crochet/ribbon piece, that I thought would be perfect to put as a "garter" around a basket. It happened to fit this one perfectly.

Old crochet edging.

Pink ribbon yo-yos.

See that little extra crochet piece on the left of the photo? What do you think that is for? It is just the right size to hold a thimble, so perhaps that is its intended use.

I like the different variations on all of them. And the fact that they all have some pink in them. The ruffles on this one are so sweetly done!

P.S. If you like Christmas, don't forget to visit my new Christmas blog. :)

So pretty! I think it's amazing that ladies took the time to create such beautiful pin cushions. You are blessed to be their new owner! Thanks for sharing your mom's use of vintage ice buckets for salad. Great idea I will definitely try!

I have a couple of these heart shaped pin cushions and just love them. I have one that is in "pieces" and I know I should get my crochet hook, some ribbon and just finish it. Loved your photos....awesome.

Lovely. Interesting you would find such similar ones at different places. Meant to have the collection I think.
I think it might have been for holding a thimble, that way everything is together.

They are sooo pretty. I wonder what their story is.

Hope you've had a great day

Becca, you know I love the crocheted hearts because I have mom's old ones, except the ribbon is missing, but I will figure it out. Great new Christmas blog. I deleted mine that I made 2 years ago, but I think I will do it over. Hugs, Pat

Those are so pretty!
I bet you're right...that little thing probably holds a thimble, or maybe a very small spool of thread.

What a wonderful idea to collect and group these darling hear pincushions. Of course, I love that they are all hand made by ladies long ago. And I LOVE the idea of decorating a little basket with crocheted "garter" trim. It's always such a pleasure to visit your blog.
