*45's*

I found this cute old children's "45" at the shabby antique shoppe, and bought it because of the adorable graphics. When I got it home, I discovered the record had a huge chip in it anyway....
.... but it got me to thinking about the children's 45's I have from my youth. Remember these?

I'm sure some of them are older than I am, as we would often get toys handed down to us from older cousins or family friends. These records include childhood favorites such as "Three Little Kittens", "I'm a Little Teapot", and "Hot Cross Buns".
Remember when the records were colors, like these yellow ones? I remember listening to this one ~ I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus ~ and wondering what on earth was Santa doing kissing someone's Mommy?!!!!! How utterly scandalous!!

(Of course, I also used to think that tiny people lived inside my record player/radio, and they were the ones singing/talking. I was very very very young. ;)
Quit laughing.

Oh no! I don't remember them at all. I'm way to young. LOL LOL LOL

Of course I remember them. Do you remember the little plastic disk that went inside so you could play it on the record player if you didn't have the attachment for the 45's anymore.

Boy, kids today have no idea of all the fun they are missing.

Hugs,
Joanne

Hi Becca! Thanks for your nice comment on my projects! Oh my I feel really old looking at these! I almost forgot about them. I remember those little plastic inserts we put in ours to convert the records because someone lost the 45 thingy on the record player! I can't believe you still have the ones from when you were little. How fun! You know you'll be singing these songs in your sleep now! Jeannette

I remember the records very well. My mom had the record player in her room and I would sit at her vanity and listen to all my records. I laughed when you talked about the tiny people in the player...my mom used to tell the story how if I went to spend the night at my grandparents I would turn all my dolls around to face the wall. When she asked me why, I told her I didn't want them to have any fun without me! Honestly, I don't think I have changed much. I hate when I hear about a party that I didn't go to and all the fun....I missed out!
Thanks for the memories!

Too funny! I always liked the ones that had the books with them. A bell would chime for you to turn the page, ha!
Or what about having to tape a penny to the needle so it wouldn't skip? LOL!

I love the colored 45's and I'm a Little Teapot is a big favorite childhood song of mine. I had a couple of the yellow ones on my laundry wall for a while. One was How Much is that Doggy in the Window. In one of my cleaning clutter sprees I donated them to the thrift store. What was I thinking?????? I'd love to have them in my studio now.

Dear Becca,
Oooh my gosh you have the sweetest blog. I am crazy about bludbirds of happiness. I can see why you purchased the record chip or not. I have seen amazing records with graphics printed right on the record. I would be afraid to play them. Please rush right over to my blog to find out what honor has been bestowed upon you my dear.
Happy days,
Pat

You are so right about those graphics, so cute!! Hey, get a jukebox and then you could play those all the time. Ooh, that gives me an idea, I know what to look for at auctions now so I can put them in our jukebox. Thanks for making me think of it!:o)

Have a great weekend!
