Do You Dress Like You Decorate? From these photos of my recent purchases, you will see that my answer to that question is "YES"!!
I thought these overalls were just too cute..... they are actually "capri" length, and look even cuter with the legs rolled up a bit. I though they would be cute for gardening. (yes, I'm using the word "cute" a bit much here, but they ARE! :)I also found this sweet cotton shirt jacket that is in a cream background with pink "toile-like" flowers.
And this lacey shirt, that is so romantic. I love wearing lace, and things with embroidery.
Another thing my clothing has in common with my decor ~ I shop at the thrift stores. That's where all these items came from. The overalls still had the original price tag on them of $49 and they are Liz Claiborne. I got them for $4. The pink toile shirt is from Christopher Banks, and the lace blouse is from J. Jill, each $3.79.

So, how about you? Do you "dress like you decorate"?

Your question is sort of a sore subject for me...I would love to dress like I decorate but whenever I do I look like, I don't know, a frilly lampshade. I've studied my style and the clothing that looks the very best on me is "sporty natural" -- which is so NOT how I decorate, nor how I feel about myself! Ah, well.

I love the toile blouse!

I love those overalls! And no, I do not dress like I decorate. I love that it works for you! I am going for a nostalgia look (pre-1900-1930) and at this point I haven't found a whole lot in that category in the line of clothes. Hmmm...got me thinkin' now.

I would love to but I dress very taylored. I think it is a "hold over" from my office days.... I do have floral pj's & robes!! Does that count??

I'm with you..I love Country Cottegey. I stay away from skirts and dresses, calf length pants, etc..we won't go into it,it is best take my word for it, but my wardrobe is florals, plaids, laces, jeans, beads, rhinestones, and lots of embroidery. Oodles of costume jewelry from the 40's-50's.
Colors neutrals to Autumn...golds,
greens, browns, muaves, blues. Each room in my house has the same color variety. You naturally drift to what you feel good with. I love the pastels, but in moderation. I love to visit a room in those colors, but I can't live in it. Plus being married..I can't see my Jim a totally chintz, lacey, pastel room. LOL..he'd look so lost.

I am very tailored with very right colors ... IF I dressed like I decorate, oh! gosh!! you don't EVEN want to think of what I'd look like.

What darling bargains you purchased.

What great finds!
I do like to wear some lace and frills on my shirts. ((Love the toile shirt)) I can tell when I get too "dressy" when my kids stand there and roll there eyes & shake there heads. But are they experts on fashion?? I think not!!!
But mostly I'm just a baggy t-shirt & jeans kinda gal.

Hmmm...no I guess I don't dress like I decorate at all.
Except for the cream or sage paint on my jeans & in my fingernails!

I wear jeans, flip flops or motorcycle boots. And I like black.
With a touch of 1969 hippie thrown in at times.

Love the question & replies!

Oooh! Those overalls are so cute! What a bargain you got on all your finds. I'm not patient enough to look for clothes at the thrift store. I can barely tollerate it when the dept. stores has it all laid out for me. Do I dress like I decorate?...Maybe, or at least I'd like to think so. Both are hard to do on my budget lately. LOL!!

Absolutely! I'm a girly-girl, as they call it today. I love pastels, lace, flowers, flowing skirts, bell sleeves, etc. I do tend to wear a lot of black capris and I don't decorate with black at all. But, my capris have to have wide flowing legs. I was a teenager in the 70's and I love what many would describe as hippy clothes, but ultra-feminine. Love my bling-bling too and when I go to the thrift stores, they know what I like and point things out to me. I go for the shoes with the bling too. Love your pretty, feminine picks. Don't you just love saving money, so that you can buy more?

When I seen the floral overalls I about flipped they are so beautiful!!! Once in a million years I look at the clothes and they are always very short! What unbelievable finds! I know we like the same look no doubt! Lori

I love all your floral clothing. I once always dressed with solids and florals... pics of me in my house used to blur with my clothing blending in with my upholstery and wallpaper.
Not so much as I age - fear being called "the flower lady". :-)

A really good question --- but I don't think I do. I buy clothes that are like I decorate, but I find that I don't wear those --- but enjoy them on the hanger (sounds funny, but it's true). I tend to dress more simply than I decorate.

Love your bargains! I bet you are pretty in pink!!

I decorate with romantic touches, and do love romantic clothing too!

I buy a lot of yellow things, just bought a yellow shirt Monday! But I like to wear black a lot too!

Oh such pretty bargains! My mom and I went clothes shopping today which I HATE to do. She found more that fit her at the thrift store than at a retail store. It is my worst pet peeve to shop for clothes. Don't get me wrong...I love pretty new clothes just not the process. There are better things I would rather do with my time such as go antiquing etc. LOL
