I spotted this lustreware plate at the auction. Though it's crazed and faded, I just fell in love with it. Unfortunately, when it came time to bid on it, the auctioneer placed it with a very intricately-detailed cup & saucer, and the bidding went higher than I could pay for the little plate. I was pretty sure this gentleman wasn't bidding on "my" plate, so I went up to him afterwards and asked. "Nope," said he, "it's going in the trash -- if you want it, it's yours." I offered to buy the plate from him, but he wouldn't hear of it. He handed it to me with a hearty "Enjoy!!" So not only do I have the lovely plate, but it reminds me of this gentleman's kindness when I look at it! I hope he's enjoying his cup&saucer every bit as much!

Becca, I'm sure this plate is all the more special because of the gentleman's kindness. It is so nice to know that true gentlemen still exist in our world. Love the plate, BTW!
Ahhh Becca, that is a lovely story. How kind of him. It is a beautiful plate. I have never seen one like that. Lustreware is pretty isn't it? I know you are enjoying it.
That was so sweet of him, you must be thrilled!
I'm so glad you saved that beautiful piece from being thrown away! He was nice to give it to you!
