We were visited by Ike Sunday afternoon, and were left without power through Monday. We read by candlelight (I read decorating magazines, naturally, and Chris read his sci-fi books :)
Then we played card games by candlelight, and talked a lot of course. I "sacrificed" my gold candles for the cause, and I love the way they look after burning them. Maybe it's the sweet memory that makes me like them so....
Some are still without power, so we feel really blessed that ours was only out for a day/overnight. Who would have thought that Ohio could be affected so by a hurricane?

So glad you have power. We were blessed to not have ours go out. A couple weeks ago they trimmed the trees way back that the power lines went through, if they hadn't done that we probably would of been without power, too.

Such wonderful pictures! So glad you were able to make the best of the situation.

Take care, Beckie.

What a lovely uplifting post. I love how you made an unpleasant situation into a special time. It warmed my heart.

Glad the power is back on Becca.
I think the power out for a little while can be kind of fun and romantic. Only for a night though.
I love the way your candles look too. I had no idea a hurricane could get up to Ohio.

Glad your power is back on. We were without power a week ago Friday....from only 10AM-5Pm. Your candles look very romantic.

Glad you have power again and also that you enjoyed your quiet time without it. My cousin in Ohio was without power also. Still haven't heard if it is back on.

Sounds like a fun time despite Ike. Ike arrived here too...dumping 6-8 inches of rain and flooding half our yard. Luckily our house is up high from the creek.

Glad you enjoyed your respite from electricity!

I, also, want to thank you for your well wishes. I am beginning to feel more myself.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sorry you had to deal with IKE, but how romantic huh? The candles look so old world burned down like that.
Sacrificed, lol.... hmmm, I wonder which candles I'd give up for a storm?

You are in Ohio too? It was an awful storm but leave it to you to make it a beautiful, sweet memory!
My brother and sis in law's power just returned this evening, 7 days later!

Sue
