~Roses from My Garden~ For many years, I have wanted to grow my own rose garden, so that I might have fresh roses to adorn our home.....
That desire has been realized this summer, as we planted ten rose bushes in the side yard......
This afternoon, I took my first cuttings from them and brought them inside.

I added some Queen Anne's lace that grows abundantly here in the country.....
Hope you enjoyed seeing my rose bouqet! Have a lovely week!
:)

Hello, and Welcome!May I show you my latest pretties? I've always had an affection for these vintage floral glasses. My grandmother had a set of them, and so I have very fond memories of drinking out of them when we went to visit her in Virginia.

I always thought they were jelly glasses, but my cousin tells me that they actually were peanut butter jars, as my grandmother made her own jelly.
I bought this one at my favorite shabby shoppe, and I think I will enjoy pleasant memories as I sip my iced tea from it!

This tole can will go in my craft room and will probably hold my "stuffing" that I keep on hand for ornaments and pillows that I make.

I like the colors and graphics on it!
A pretty pillow cover, in soft soothing colors, at home in the living room. And of course, your hostess for today, this adorable skirt vase, picked up at my fave antique shoppe!!

Hope you had an enjoyable weekend, and wishing you a lovely week as well!

Pink & Green Pretties from the World's Longest Yard Sale

I was thrilled to find the little purse bank! It is very similar to a pin money bank, which I have wanted for years! It's in very good condition too! The sweet lady who sold it to me, kept asking, "you do realize it's a bank??" as if that somehow made it less valuable. Little did she know how happy I was to find this treasure (and at a good price too :)

I'm not done yet!! More goodies tomorrow!

As always, thanks so much for stopping by!!

You really can find almost anything at the World's Longest Yard Sale. I found this gorgeous handmade purse!
I have been intending on making one like this for years, but since I haven't done so yet, I figured I would buy one to "tide me over". It has such pretty detail, such as a barkcloth insert, vintage button, and scalloped trim.
I'm enjoying sharing my finds with you. Please come back tomorrow to see more vintage goodies!

By the way, I just discovered that the maker of this beautiful bag also sells on etsy at http://www.toteworks.etsy.com/. This purse is very well made, it even has a couple of pockets sewn into the inside. I see that she also takes custom orders. I would highly recommend her work!

~Vintage Cottage Canisters~

Hollyhocks along the pathway....

My latest find ~ from The World's Longest Yard Sale!! We have spent the last three days travelling Route 127 in Ohio and Kentucky, scooping up pretty treasures like these! I'll be sharing my finds over the next few days.
These canisters are the last thing I bought before we headed back home yesterday.
I was really glad I had enough money left to buy these; I would have regretted leaving them behind! They will go perfectly in my cottage kitchen!

The Tale of the Bluebird

When my mom sold the home I grew up in, she left behind some treasures. Her small collection of bird figurines/music boxes were among those treasures.

A couple of weeks ago, the lady who bought the house was having a yard sale. Some of my mom's music boxes were among the offerings. As my mom and I drove away from the sale, we talked of how we were both tempted to buy back her birdies, but we felt a little awkward doing so.......

Well, I couldn't stop thinking about them, so later that weekend, I told my husband we were going to get those music boxes for my mom. As we pulled into the driveway, I didn't spot them on the table where they had been earlier. I told the lady, "We came back for the music boxes, but I see someone has already bought them." To which she replied, "Yes, your mom came back and bought them! And she bought the bluebird one for you!!"

I had to laugh, and called my mom from my cell phone as we left the sale. We both smiled, that we had each thought of the other, and wanted them to have something special from our former home.

My precious bluebird music box, now with two sweet memories!

(The music box plays "Beautiful Dreamer" :)
Thanks for stopping by!!

Junkin'
My favorite junk store is closing. Had to stop in one last time, and this is what I found.
Old wooden hanger with chippy painted flowers.

HUGE old plastic hatbox with faded fabric...... I'll store millinery flowers in this.

Another wicker shelf for my studio -- I already have one in pink and one in yellow.

Sweet little pack of vintage Easter seals.

Originally five cents!
I'll miss this neat old store; you never knew what you were going to find there!
(Thankfully, I still have my favorite shabby vintage shoppe and my favorite antiques store nearby. I just might have to visit them soon, to console myself of course. ;)
