My son the Banana.
You know what? I like my boys. It's a given that I love my children -- which I do with all my heart -- but I also LIKE them.
Brad makes me laugh. He doesn't take himself too seriously. He's a good student, but he also knows how to have fun. Like deciding to walk around in a banana suit for no apparent reason.
Go Bananas!!

Pretty Wallpapers from Karla

I ordered some pretty wallpapers from my friend Karla. They are a little more aqua than they show up here...... pinks and aquas, aaaaahhhhh......

She included this bluebird tag she made especially for me! What a lovely surprise!

If you aren't familiar with Karla's work, you must have a look at her beautiful blog. Karla is one of the most creative and talented people I know, and her pictures are always an absolute pleasure to behold. I'd love to see her home in person some day; I'm sure it's absolutely gorgeous! (exciting news; Karla's home will be in some upcoming magazines! :)

I went thrifting yesterday for just a few minutes, and found all these pretty vintage Christmas ornaments for under two dollars.

I especially like these that are unsilvered..... this one has such pretty pink and white stripes.

Christmas will have to wait just a bit longer; however; I have been doing some autumn decorating, of which I'll share pictures very soon.

Oh, and have you seen the latest Country Victorian magazine? I'm especially excited about this issue for two reasons! One, is that my friend Cathy has her adorable pink cottage featured! Cathy is a wonderfully talented decorator, and you'll just love her pink cottage!

The other reason I'm excited about this issue, is that my first-ever ad for my website is in it. This is a big step for me, and it was such a fun moment when I saw my ad in a magazine for the first time! :)

I hope you all are having a wonderful week. I'll share those autumn pics soon, and I'll also be sharing pictures of my entire kitchen in the near future (by request of several of you ~ thank you so much!)

Until next time!!

GO Bluebirds!!!!

For years, I have wanted a set of vintage bluebird "Days of the Week" towels. I finally found some on eBay that didn't go too high for me!! Yipppppeeeee! They arrived yesterday, and they are soft and wonderful!!
Here is "Saturday" on display in my kitchen today. Shall I bake a pie like this happy little bluebird? :)

Yesterday was a "good mail day", as I also received the prize I had won from Cerri at Little Pink Studio! It was so sweetly wrapped with pink ribbons......

It is a beautiful PINK vintage French baptismal favour cone, along with some gorgeous vintage millinery flowers. Thank you soooooooooo much, Cerri; it's so sweet and so are you!

I've placed it on my inspiration board for now.....

Remember this old frame that I bought at a yard sale earlier this year, and I said I was going to have my dh make it into an inspiration board for me (by adding cork to it)? ...... I LOVE it!!

I hope everyone is enjoying a lovely weekend. It is a beautiful autumn-like day here, so I might have to get out the rest of my autumn decor!

Autumn Touches

I am beginning to add little touches of autumn to our home.....
I tied these creamy hydrangeas to the lace curtains at the dining room doors......
Then I sewed up a shabby pink pumpkin for the shoppe......
The front is vintage pink chenille, with rose fabric leaves and a glittery pink stem.
The back is a pink rose fabric......

Goodbye, Summer......

Dottie is sad to see summer go........ I'm not sure where she spent winters before, but I think she's a bit worried about the snow here -- could it be that she's afraid she will blend in and get lost? :)

Yep, Dottie's a bit pale, but she always wears her sunscreen!

What do you think of this bikini? Have you ever seen a flannel bikini? We hadn't. And perhaps never will again. Another Goodwill special!

Dottie was enjoying the last bit of summer so much, that she wouldn't even move from this bench when we mowed the lawn, so she has grass clippings on her legs and feet.

Brad thinks it's time to shop for a fall jacket for Dottie..... she probably will want to go to the football games with him and his friends........

On another note, I've been tagged to play the middle name game by Lisa http://athingforroses.blogspot.com/ Here's how it's played:You take the letters of your middle name to use words to describe yourself.

Okay, sounds easy! My middle name is Lynne; here goes!

L - "L" is for Linens, of course! I love linens, especially vintage embroidered ones with bluebirds or roses!

Y - "Y" is for Why do half the people I know have the same middle name as I do? (Okay, different kind of "y", but I'm taking a little creative license here! ;) It must have been a quite popular name back in nineteen-sixty-(mumble-mumble-inaudible year)

N -is for "Nice". I LIKE being nice to people. Oprah once said that she didn't want to be described as "nice" because it was boring. Well, I disagree. I like it!!

N -is for "Nutty". What fun would life be if we couldn't be a little nutty now and then? (Said the woman who just posted a picture of a mannequin in a flannel bikini)

E -is for "Enough" as in enough of this; I can't think of anything else! So much for it being easy!

I think most of you in Blogland have been tagged for this already, but if not, consider yourself thus tagged!

Shelf Makeover.......

This is the After........

I bought this shelf at a g.sale -- have had it for a couple of years, intending to paint it. So this weekend, I finally did. I had planned on painting it white, but for some reason changed my mind to pink! It's in the dining room, which is pink and green.

I, of course, had fun putting all my pretties on it....

Here's a pic of it before.....

And after.......

I hope you all are enjoying a lovely long weekend!
Thanks for all the nice comments on my recent posts, especially the "book contest photos". You are so kind, and I appreciate you very much! :)

Cupcake Fairies!!

Look at what I won from Laurie! Three of the sweetest sugary pink&cream cupcake fairies ever!

The detail is just amazing, from their glittery wings, to their vintage millinery flowers, *chocolate*, buttercream and pink frostings, chenille arms and legs......

How absolutely adorable!

Laurie is very talented; she is now featuring some fairies she made for Halloween on her blog. Please visit this creative and generous artist at:

Laurie, thank you so much; I just love my little cupcake fairies and they have found a happy home here!!

Thrifting Treasures
I was able to sneak in a few minutes thrifting while I was out running to the bank......

Found a pretty plate, a pink rose *Mother* cup, and these two silk hydrangea stems for around four dollars total.
I will be beginning my fall decor now that tomorrow is September, and I will use these blue&cream hydrangeas in the more romantic shabby decor......

Hope you all enjoy a lovely weekend..... my dh has been working 12 hour days, and actually has a three-day weekend, so I might get to see him for a change! A girl can hope!! :)

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas.....

Okay, I know, I know; it's not even quite September yet!! But for those of us who craft, it's definitely time to be making Christmas pretties. Since I've been super busy (which I'll tell why later in this post); I haven't had time to really take fresh pics of our house or my pretties, so I'll just share some pics of my Christmas goodies I've been working on!!

I've made some Christmas tags (above and below) for my Etsy shoppe....

Here's a little Christmas tree I remade to be more "shabby"..... I put a vintage rhinestone button on the very top, and added a vintage lace doily to the bottom.....
(available in my shoppe)

And here's the reason why I've been so busy this week. We added this new little guy to our family, and I've been spending lots of time with him as he adjusts to his new home.

I'd like to introduce you to Peyton, seven months old, full of energy but with plenty of snuggle too! (being held by my husband who supposedly "doesn't care for cats". yeah, right! :)

Hope you all are having a good week!!
