Dresser Makeover
I mentioned in a previous post that I would have a BIG makeover to show you soon.
Well, here it is! I had this old pine dresser from the early 1980's..... I just knew that, with a little work, it could be made over into something beautiful, to be used in our living room.
Well, here it is! I had this old pine dresser from the early 1980's..... I just knew that, with a little work, it could be made over into something beautiful, to be used in our living room.
And then came the most fun part ~~ decorating it in the romantic style that I love!
I'm glad I decided to make it over instead of throw it out!

Hi Becca, Oh my! How gorgeous!!!! Thank you for sharing this incredible makeover! You are so talented and have such a gift for decorating romantically! It is really amazing how white paint can transform a piece of furniture. I love how you decorated it! The lace, dishes, candles, flowers and frame are just beautiful! I love how you filled those two drawers with lace, hankies, flowers, plates and pearls! So very lovely and sweet!!! Beautifully done!! Blessings, Paula
Boy Becca that sure came out nice. Where are you going to Put it? What a change you made to a plain piece, to something really special.

Don't you just love the way some white paint and glass knobs can make such a difference?

Wow, Becca! What a difference a coat of paint and a little fluffy color makes! I've seen these a hundred times, never would have thought they could look so pretty. Great job.
Thank you for stopping into my site. Yours is beautiful, the peonies are incredible. I would love to grow them. Jamie
Oh it's really gorgeous what you did!! I always say, much to my families amusemant, that everything dark and clunky can look better with some white paint but oh man!! You went above and beyond that in what you did...I LOVE IT!
Becca what a gorgeous transformation! I adore your new dresser. What kind of primer and paint did you use; brand, finish, etc? xoxo
Oh WOW! You have transformed it into a beautiful peice of furniture! I am always amazed how 'brown' furniture can be made into something lovely with a lick of paint!
Becca ~ WoW!!! I love it. That is beautiful. Your finishing touches, the lace, knobs, partially open drawers, are all great. Now I want to see the rest of your living room!

Becca, that is so pretty! It is amazing what a little paint, knobs and elbow grease can accomplish! Beautiful!!!!
Becca, what a wonderful make-over!!
It looks gorgeous, and the best part is, all it took was some paint!
When I used to sell "shabby" furniture, these pieces always sold immediately, and for hundreds of dollars! This was a thrifty and GREAT idea!

I used to have a dresser like that in the 80s...sold the whole bedroom set when we moved to a smaller house. I love to transform old, gunky, brown furniture & shelves. I bought a brown scratched up brown low dresser for $20 at a yard sale & did the white paint make-over - it really comes alive. I'm working on a desk now & some chairs from the thrift stores - a bargain at $3 each. Everything has potential. Your's looks just like you see in the shabby chic shops with the pretties spilling out. Great job!

WOW!!! What a difference!
I had a very similar dresser/hutch when I was a teen. (late 70's-80's).
I loved it at the time, but then the whole set (dresser/4-post bed/chest) just seemed so heavy and big.
I wish I would have kept it now, and just painted it all white like yours.
BEAUTIFUL!!
Kimberly :)
Becca, How beautiful......Great job.
Thanks for stopping by and visitin with me. Also, for the sweet comment about our grandson...Betty
What an amazing transformation, no wonder you wanted to show it off. You have inspired me to definitely do a makeover on a mahogany dresser I have which I don't like anymore. If it turns out half as nice as yours has I'll be pleased.
Becca: Big Happy Birthday to you today!! Hope you got lots of goodies and your day is special!!
Theresa
Becca, that's a wonderful redo. I know you must be thrilled...it's so perfectly cottagey!
RHoda
Not everyone can see the "cottage" that is lurking inside some of those dark hunks of furniture! Good job of finding it in there!
I love it!!! I had the same dresser my husband and I bought in the 80's too.. I kept it till we had
used every piece and put it in the junk pile out on our street and now I could kick myself because I wish I would have done what you have done... It looks new again and a brighter and
fresh version of the 80's.... That is
a great way to use and reuse what you have... I need to remember this lesson!
Hi Sweet Becca! So glad you visited me! Thank you for all your kind words! I did not paint those gorgeous signs, though I would love to paint like that! A sweet and talented lady on ebay painted those. I just love to look at these photos of your makeover! I have several pieces of dark furniture that I hope my dear hubby would be willing to paint white. Again, you did a beautiful job with the painting and all the decorating! Blessings, Paula
That is so pretty. I have a big oak china cabinet I want to paint white. I'm going to show my husband your dresser and convince him to let me paint it.
